Error messages

RA uses OpenVMS_style error messages.  The section lists every RA error message in alphabetical order along with an explanation and recommended actions.

Error messages are divided into categories depending on the severity of the error:

Informational - %RA-I-

Warning       - %RA-W-

Fatal Error   - %RA-F-

Success       - %RA-S-

The rest of this appendix lists error messages in alphabetical order and gives a recommended action.

ACCFE, Accounting file empty

The specified accounting file contains no information. Please ensure that the file exists and that the RA_DAT logical is defined correctly.

ACCFNF, Accounting file not found

The specified accounting file was not found.  Please ensure that the file is there and that the RA_DAT logical is defined correctly.

ACCLSTFNF, Multiple accounting list file not found

RA was expecting to find RA_DAT:ACCOUNTNG.LIS. Create the file through the menu  or omit /MULTIPLE from the command line.

ACCNTNF, Account not found, please re-enter

You have entered a non-existent account name. Please check spelling and re-enter.

ACCNTREQ, The account qualifier is required

You must specify /ACCOUNT= to generate this report.

BADLOGIC, Bad logic error
    This is an internal error. Please contact Saiga Systems.

CHARGEREQ, a charge amount must be specified /charge_amount

When using the fixed charge utility a charge amount must be specified. If you don’t wish to have an actual charge you should specify /charge_amount=0.

CLIENTFE, Client file empty

The RA client file is empty. Please check the definition of the logical RA_DAT. You may need to either restore you client.dat file from a backup or run @RA_COM:CREATE_CLIENT_FILE to create a new client file based on the users in your SYSUAF file.

CLIENTFNF, Client file not found

The client file was not found.  Please ensure that the file exists and the RA_DAT logical is defined correctly.  You may have to create a client file or restore it from backup.

DATNOTDEF, the RA_DAT logical is not defined

The RA_DAT logical is required.  Please define this logical.

DEFBAUDUNDEF, default baud rate was undefined

The symbol DEFAULT_BAUDRATE was undefined.  The lowest value has been assigned.  If this is not acceptable please define this symbol.

DEFNOTDEL, Default record cannot be deleted
    The RA default record cannot be deleted.

DESCREQ, a charge description must be specified /description

When using the RA fixed charges utility a description must be specified. If you don’t wish to include a description you can enter /description=”“ and it will be left blank.

DISKNOTFOUND, No disk information for that disk
    That disk was not found in RA’s internal tables.

DUPRECORD, Duplicate record, user already in project

The user you have tried to add to the project is already in the project.

ENDLESSTRT, End date is before start date

The ending date is before the starting date on the date range specification of the RA reporting function.

ENF, Project/username entry not found

The specified project/username entry was not found. Check spelling and re-enter.

ERROPECLNT, Error opening client file

There has been an error opening the client file.  Please verify the client file exists.  If it is missing, you may have to create a new one or retrieve it from a system backup.

ERROPNACCFIL, Error opening accounting file
    There was an error opening the accounting file.

ERROPNINFIL, Error opening input file

There has been an error opening the input file.  Please ensure that the RA_DAT logical is specified correctly and that the file is there.

ERROPNOUTFIL, Error opening output file

There has been an error opening the output file. Ensure the RA_DAT logical is defined correctly.

ERROPNSAVFIL, Error opening summary file

There was an error opening the specified summary file.  Please ensure that the RA_DAT logical is defined correctly and the summary file exists.

ERRREADACCLST, Error reading the multiple accounting list file

An error occurred while RA was trying to read the multiple accounting list file. Verify that the file exists and that the entries in it are correct.

ERRREADCHRG, Error reading the charge file

An error occurred while RA was trying to read the charge file. Verify that the file exists and that the entries in it are correct.

ERRREADPARM, Error reading the parameter file

An error occurred while RA was trying to read the parameter file. Verify that the file exists, that RA_DAT is defined correctly and that the information in this file is correct.

ERRSEQ, Sequence value !AS not allowed

The specified sequence is not available for this report. Verify that you have requested the correct report and reenter the command with a valid sequence.

EXENOTDEF, the RA_EXE logical is not defined

The RA_EXE logical is required.  Please define this logical.

FUTURETIM, Specified a start time in the future
    Please re-enter with a valid start time.

IMAGENOTFOUND, The specified image was not found

An image was specified with the /image qualifier that no records were found for. Verify that the image name was entered correctly and that the save file covers a period of time that the image would have been run during.

INPUTFNF, Input file not found

The input file was not found.  Please ensure that the file exists and the RA_DAT logical is defined correctly.

INTCOMPERR, Internal comparison error, records once found the same are no longer
    This is an internal error. Please contact Saiga Systems.

INTCONVERR, Integer conversion error, a number other than an integer was entered
    Please re-enter the value as an integer number.

INVACCLSTFMT, Invalid entry in multiple accounting list file
    Please verify the entry and re-enter it.

INVALIDKEY, Invalid key entered

Within the menu a key was typed that has no meaning in this context. Press a key that is valid for this menu screen/item.

INVBAUDRATE, Invalid baud rate

You have entered an invalid baud rate while trying to update the parameter file. Please re-enter specifying a valid baud rate.

INVCHAR, Invalid character specified; $, _, and alphanumeric accepted

You have included an invalid character in your input. Please respecify using only an alphanumeric character, the dollar sign or the underscore character.

INVDATE, Invalid date format; DD-MMM-YYYY
    Please re-enter the date in the valid format.

INVENTRYLEN, Invalid entry length, the maximum length is 8 characters
    Please re-enter using a value that is no longer than 8 characters.

INVIMAGE, Invalid image name specified

The specified image name is not valid. Please respecify using the proper name.

INVINPUTBNA, Invalid input, only B, N or A allowed
    Please re-enter using a valid value.

INVINPUTPNA, Invalid input, only P, N or A allowed
    Please re-enter using a valid value.

INVINPUTYN, Invalid input, only Y or N allowed
    Please re-enter using a valid value.

INVINCLUDE, invalid include type specified

Reenter the command and specify Revenue, Nonrevenue or Both.

INVPROJECT, Invalid project entry, checking spelling and project access privilege

You have entered an invalid project. Check that you entered it corretly and that you have been added as a member of this project.

INVPROJLEN, Invalid project specified, project must be 7 characters or less
    Re-enter the project as 7 characters or less.
INVRECTYPE, Invalid record type specified, must be U, A, or G

Image charge records must be specified for a Username, Account or Group. Enter a valid record type.

INVSAVVER, Invalid save file version, expecting !AS

An error was encountered while trying to convert a save file. Please verify that the save file was created by a supported version of RA. This error may also be encountered if the save file is already a V7 file; to test this try running a report with this save file.

INVSPECENTRY, invalid entry in the specification file: !AS

The specification file contains an invalid entry. Please correct the file and then reenter the command. The default_summary.spc file contains all valid entries and can be used as a template for creating site specific specification files.

INVSPECFIELD, invalid field in the specification file: !AS

The specification file contains an entry with an invalid field name. Please correct the file and then reenter the command. The default_summary.spc file contains all valid entries and can be used as a template for creating site specific specification files.

INVTIME, Invalid time format, use ##:##:##.#
    Re-enter the time in the valid format.

INVTYPEVALUE. Invalid type value, correct value depends on record type

This message is generated when no value is specified for the record type. Record type cannot be blank.

IVMASCHNGFMT, Invalid mass change format, % cannot be used alone
    Re-enter using a valid format. The % character cannot be used alone.

IVVERB, Unrecognized command verb.

The RA command verb is not available. Enter $ set command ra_cdu:ra and then try again.

MAXDISC100, Maximum discount value is 100
    You cannot enter a discount value greater than 100%.

MINMAX, minimum value must be less than maximum value

When entering a minimum and maximum charge for a client record the minimum value entered must be less than the maximum value.

MUSTBEABS, Start and end times must be absolute time

Please re-enter the time as an absolute time.

NEGINPUT, A negative number was entered, a positive value required

You cannot enter a negative number for this value; please re-enter specifying a postive value.

NEWPARAMFILE, A new parameter file has been created
    This is an information message.

NOACCINFO, No accounting information for user

No accounting information was found for a login failure record in the month_to_date accounting summary file.

NOCLIENT, No client name match

No username match was found in client file for a resource usage record in the accounting summary file _ default charge rates will be used.

NODATA, there was no data of the specified type

During a summary or detailed cost distribution report the user specified revenue or nonrevenue accounts only and there was no data for that type of account. Verify that the accounts expected have been set to the correct type in the CLIENT.DAT file.

NODISKINFO, no disk information was encountered in scan

There was no disk information found during the scan. Please ensure this is correct, as the daily collection routine should be inserting this data.  Check that ACC_DAY_UPDATE_node.COM is running daily on the node that should be collecting disk information.

NOPROJ, No such project exists

No project name was found for the project name specified by a user.  Each project must be defined.

NOPROJINFO, no information found for this project / username.

No information was found for the specified project. Please verify the project name.

NORMAL, normal successful completion

Internal successful message, no action required.

NOSCAN, no information accumulated, please scan accounting file or read save file

There was an attempt to generate a RA report without first scanning the accounting file. Please scan the accounting file and then produce any desired reports.

NOUIC, No such UIC exists

The UIC for a resource usage record in the month_to_date accounting summary file does not exist in the SYSUAF.DAT file.

NOUSERNAME, No such username exists

The username for a resource usage record in the month_to_date accounting summary file does not exist in the SYSUAF.DAT file.

       
NUMTOOBIG, Number exceeds field size

This is an error entering the charge rates in the client file maintenance.  The charge rate entered exceeded the maximum allowed for this field.

NUMTOOLRG, a value too large has be entered

This is an error entering the charge rates in the client file maintenance.  The charge rate entered exceeded the maximum allowed for this field.

PFN, project not found

The specified project was not found. Please verify the project name.

PROJFILEEMPTY, project file empty

There was an error reading the project file. Most likely caused from the file being empty.

PROJREQ, the project qualifier is required for this report

A DCL command was entered to produce a project related report that required the /PROJECT qualifier to be specified. Please re-enter the command using the /PROJECT qualifier and a value project name.

PROJTOOLONG, specified project is longer than 8 characters

You have specified a project name longer than allowed. Please re-enter with a valid project name that is less than or equal to seven characters.

PROJTUNC, project has been truncated to 7 characters

The project name specified was too long and was therefore truncated to the allowed seven characters.

REALCONVERR, real conversion error, a number other than a positive real was entered
    A value other than a positive real value was entered. Please re-enter with a valid value.

RECORLDLOCK, record locked, operation cancelled

The record was locked for the required data and the operation was cancelled. Please re-enter the command again. If the problem persists verify that the record has not been left locked by another process.

REQLRGBAUDRT, required a larger baud rate then the previous baud rate

The baud rate entered was lower than the previous baud rate. The baud rates must increase in value within the table.

REQLRGVAL, required a value larger than the previous value

The values within this table must increase in value. The last entry was smaller than the previous entry.

REQVALBLKLRG, required a value 1 block larger than the previous value

The next entry has to be one block larger than the last entry. Please re-enter with the correct value.

REQVALCNTLRG, required a value 1 cent larger than the previous value

The next netry has to be one cent larger than the last entry. Please re-enter with the correct value.

SAVEFE, save file empty

The specified save file was empty. Please verify that the file specified is present and has valid data.

SAVFNF, Summary file not found

The summary file was not found.  Please ensure that the file exists and the RA_DAT logical is defined correctly.

STARTENDREQ, Start and end qualifier must be used together

When using the /START and /END qualifiers they must be used together.  Re_enter command with both /START and /END on the same command line.

SUMORREPREQ, Summary or report qualifier required

A RA command was specified that did not have a /REPORT or /SUMMARY qualifier.

SYNTAX, error parsing ‘qualifier_name’

The RA command definition installed in DCLTABLES is from a previous version of RA. Install the new command definition and until system reboot enter $ set command ra_cdu:ra to access the newer command definition.

TOOMANYIMG, too many image charge records, maximum is 1000

When adding image charge records to the image charge table you may not exceed 1000 records. If this message is displayed you must make room for additional records by reviewing your image charge records to see if some of your records could be replaced with a single wildcarded recorded or with a record for group or account instead of individual user records.

UNF, username not found

The specified username was not found. Please verify the username and re-enter the command.

UNKNWNRPT, the requested report is unknown, please check spelling

The specified report name does not exist. Please re-enter command with valid report name.

USERINFILE, this user was already in the client file, add aborted

This username already exists in the client file and duplicates are not allowed. Please use the modify function if a change is required to this record.

USERREQ, the user qualifier is required for this report

The /USER qualifier is required for this report. Please re-enter with a valid username.

USERTOOLONG, specified username is longer than 12 characters

The specified username is too long, please re-enter the username.

USERTRUNC, username has been truncated to 12 characters

The specified username was too long and was truncated to 12 characters.

VALTOOLRG, the entered value was too large

The specified value was too large. Please re-enter with a smaller value within the valid range.

YORN, please enter a Y or a N

This question requires that you answer either (Y)es or (N)o. No other value will be accepted.
